3 Marissa Alexander was in court this morning... for a pre-trial hearing. She's the woman who was previously convicted of 3 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She fired a shot into the wall near her estranged husband Rico Gray and his two young sons. Alexander claimed it was a warning shot, but a jury quickly found her guilty. That conviction was overturned and a new trial is in the works. This morning, the judge set a new date for another pretrial hearing to talk about the motion he calls most important -- a request for a new stand your ground hearing. Channel 4's Heather Leigh was in court this morning -- and joins us live with a look at the hearing ... Heather? ### 3 3 The judge says today's hearing was just to get a better understanding of where the prosecution and defense are...Alexander was in court today.... but didn't say a word while both sides presented their motions for the new trial. The defense filed hundreds of pages of pretrial motions including a new Stand Your Ground hearing. 3 3 "There's a lot of debate on changing the law with what may happen between now and May 16th number one.Number two, we think there's a different statute that applys more specifically here. The attack here was in her home and we want to focus more accordingly to that." The judge said he'd be willing to hear both arguments about that motion... I spoke with one of the pastors that has been active in trying to get the state to offer Alexander another plea deal...as you know, she was offered a 3 year sentence 3 3 Heather, does the Judge think these jurors should be sequestered?
