ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -

Authorities say two people are dead after a hit-and-run crash in St. Petersburg.  Another person in the car suffered severe burns had to be taken to the hospital. 

When police arrived to the crash scene they found one car was empty.  The other car was burning and had three people inside.

Police say rescue crews were only able to rescue one person and the other two could not be rescued.  The condition of the person rescued is unknown. 

Police believe whoever was in the empty car fled on foot before police arrived.
