Infant taken to hospital; foul play suspected

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An emergency call about a 13-month-old having a medical emergency at a mobile home on Putnam Avenue on Saturday prompted an investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police say the child was transported to Baptist Medical Center, where doctors suspected determined that foul play was involved in the injury and called police.

The child is currently in life-threatening condition.

JSO homicide detectives are currently interviewing the child's mother and her boyfriend. Police haven't released names of those involved or the nature of the child's injury.
