Interfaith group plans St Augustine 450th birthday commemoration

Event to be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at First United Methodist Church

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – People of different cultures and faiths will gather in St. Augustine Sept. 1 to commemorate the city's founding 450 years ago, "as we seek to work towards being one community."

The event will be begin at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 118 King Street in St. Augustine.

In addition to First United Methodist, other groups participating include the Center for Spiritual Living, members of the Native American Community, the Islamic Center, San Sebastian Catholic Church, Temple Bet Yam, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Grace United Methodist Church, St. Cyprians Episcopal Church, the Chinmaya Mission, members of Saint Augustine Presbytery, the Buddhist Community, First Coast Metropolitan Community Church and Holsey Temple.

A members of the community are invited. Organizers ask everyone to bring finger food to share.
