TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Two lucky Floridians became millionaires in the latest Powerball drawing.
Though they didn't claim the big prize, 61-year-old Joseph Kozlowski of Jacksonville Beach claimed a $2 million prize and 43-year-old Melissa Weinmann of Pensacola claimed a prize worth $1 million.
Kozlowski bought his ticket at Terry's Country Store on Penman Road in Jacksonville Beach. Weinmann purchased her ticket Quick Pick ticket at a Circle K store in Pensacola.
"I think really cool somebody here from Jax Beach won, that's my hometown," said Erica Bass.
"I'm so happy for the person who won it, and it's good to know that, little stores like this can do that. That it happens, it does happen," said Donna Doane. "That's crazy, I'm just really shocked."
Beyond the shock from these players, they also offered two tidbits of advice, both to other players and to the big winner.
"I would just tell people, you have to budget. Don't spend your rent money," said Yvette Davis. "But, you never know. If it's in God's will, you'll win."
Three tickets - two in New Jersey and one in Minnesota - matched all five numbers and the Powerball in the Wednesday night drawing.
The winning numbers were 21-24-36-42-45 and the Powerball was 15.
The next Powerball drawing is Saturday night, just before 11 p.m. There's a $40-million jackpot.
