JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is warning the public about a scam that has begun in the area.
Police said they're currently working a case of fraud relating to the scam. They said the victim was approached by a black woman who appears to be in her 40s holding what she claimed to be a bag of money.

The woman told the victim she found a bag of money that she would split with her if she assisted her with paying the taxes on the money.
The woman then asked the victim for a ride and for them to go to the bank together to withdraw the money from the bank for the taxes. The woman demanded to get out of the victim's vehicle as the victim approached her bank so the two weren't seen going in together.
When the victim dropped the woman off in a nearby parking lot, the victim became suspicious and fled the area.
Police are reminding the public of the presence and dangers of scams and urge residents to take caution when dealing with strangers who approach them, especially ones with stories regarding money.
"It is important to remember that if you encounter someone like this, notify your police department immediately," the department said in a news release.
