JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – The manager of YogaBerry in Jacksonville Beach was removing sandbags and mopping up water inside the store early Tuesday morning. Water seeped into the frozen yogurt shop Monday afternoon during heavy rains.
The manager arrived at 4 a.m. Tuesday to clean up. He expects to open as normal at noon and did not say there was any major damage.
Coastal areas from Jacksonville Beach to south Georgia were expected to receive more rain Tuesday, according to The Weather Authority meteorologist Rebecca Barry.
Monday's heavy rains were remnants of Tropical Storm Karen. A stretch of Third Street between Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Beach had the most flooding, and police closed Third Street at the Jacksonville-Neptune Beach line.
Channel 4 chief meteorologist John Gaughan said there were nearly 3 inches of rain in that area over about a two-hour span.
"Within 3 miles by 2 miles is where the worst of all this rain was," Gaughan said.
The rain began to let up just before 6 p.m.
