Jacksonville man sentenced to 20 years in fatal DUI crash

Robert Brown struck victim's vehicle head-on, state attorneys say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man accused of driving under the influence and striking another vehicle head-on was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison, state attorneys said.

Robert Brown, 30, was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison for one count of driving under the influence manslaughter and two counts of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury.

In July 2013, Brown was intoxicated and driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 295 near Wilson Street when he struck the victim's vehicle head-on, according to state attorneys.

Three people were inside the other vehicle, including Jerome Cason Jr., 35, who was killed. State attorneys said the other two victims sustained serious injuries and have recovered.

Brown was convicted of the charges in July, state attorneys said.
