JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 17-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was arrested Thursday, accused of fraudulently claiming overtime that amounted to $4,425 in extra pay.
Patrol Officer Dan Hamlin, 47, was charged with 26 counts of official misconduct and one count of grand theft. Undersheriff Dwain Senterfitt said that Hamlin resigned after his arrest.

Senterfitt said Hamlin's bosses became suspicious over the frequency of overtime claimed due to depositions and pretrial meetings at the state attorney's office and an internal investigation was launched.
"A lot of those cases that he said that he was over on pretrial on, we found out the cases were over and disposed of. We even found a couple instances where the attorney he met with no longer worked at the state attorney's office," Senterfitt said.
As part of the criminal prosecution, Hamlin will be asked to repay the money.
