JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police are investigating after a person was shot just after 2 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Waffle House at 10401 Atlantic Boulevard.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the victim and suspect got into a fight and the suspect shot the victim in the leg with a firearm. 

Detectives say the person who fired the gun claimed self defense. There was no immediate word on whether the person would be charged.

Police say the victim's injured were not life-threatening. 

The names of those involved have not been released.
