JSO said 67-year-old Diana Lynn Stephenson was travelling west on Bowden Rd. They said the officer, Gary Lyon, was traveling east, and they were both approaching the I-95 on-ramp.

A witness said the officer's vehicle suddenly swerved to the outside lane, and the woman's van hit the deputy's cruiser.

Stephenson said she was making a left turn and she thought she had a green turn arrow. She said a warning light came up on her dashboard, and when she looked back she was blinded by a bright light. Stephenson said she never saw the officer's vehicle.

Lyon was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Stephenson was cited for careless and negligent driving.
