Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responds to domestic dispute, finds man with gunshot wound

Police: Injuries are life-threatening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was taken to the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound that started in a domestic dispute, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers were dispatched to Washington Heights Apartments on W. Moncrief Road at 1:02 a.m. to investigate a domestic battery in progress.

Sgt. Wilson said officers also responded to a person shot at a nearby apartment.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest and officers learned the two calls were related and quickly detained everyone involved.

The victim was taken to UF Health by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue and hospital staff said his injuries are life-threatening.

Police said they were not looking for any suspects and everyone involved with both incidents had been detained and were waiting to be interviewed by detectives.

Sgt. Wilson said all of the parties involved know each other but their relationships were unclear.

The Violent Crimes Task Force responded to the call and was put in charge of the investigation.
