SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -

Crowley Maritime Corporation's deal with Puerto Rico's Port Authority is expected to generate more than $20 million for the U.S. territory in the next three decades.

Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla said last month that Crowley plans to make Puerto Rico its center for Caribbean exports. He said the amount of cargo being moved through the Port of San Juan will increase by nearly 15 percent a year as a result.

Garcia said that Crowley, based in Jacksonville, Florida, will also invest $405 million to build two new barges and create more than 100 permanent jobs.
