Jags newbies become focus of pep rallies
1st public appearances since joining team
The Jacksonville Jaguars are touching down in Nassau County Wednesday in a pep rally that will be focused around some of the Jags' newest faces.
Rookie Draft picks Johnathan Cyprien and Josh Evans will be on hand along with Jags General Manager David Caldwell, the ROAR cheerleaders and Jaxson Deville.
People here are starving for anything, so I think they're curious to see what the Jags have in store for the future," said Mary Ann Chase, a football fan.
Chase said the newest Jaguars are bound to get a great reception at one of their first public appearances since joining the team.
"I think when you bring new players in , a new perspective, you never know what happens, something good is bound to happen," said Amanda Massingill, a football fan.
Fans say even though the Jaguars had one of the worst records in the NFL last season, all of that is behind them, and brighter days are ahead.
To keep the positive energy flowing, the Jags are holding a series of family-friendly pep rallies, where fans can meet the players, up-close and personal. Tony Boselli and Jaxson Deville will also be on hand to get the crowd going in a pep rally that is free and open to the public.
"It just builds a sense of community, people pulling together for the same team on a local level," said football fan, Brandon Higginbotham.
The Atlantic Recreation Center is housing the pep rally for the Jags, located on 2500 Atlantic Avenue in Fernandina Beach. The rally begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The Jags are also visiting Nocatee for the first time Saturday for a "Stand United" pep rally. The rally will coincide with the Nocatee Farmers Market.
The second rally is free and open to the public that includes food, family-friendly fun and interactive and inflatable games and prize giveaways from the Jaguars and local vendors.
The second pep rally begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18th at the Nocatee Farmers Market.
The alumni Jags players will give autographs starting at 11 a.m. followed by a player Q&A session and raffle.
The Nocatee pep rally ends at 2 p.m.
Tickets for the Jags' 2013 season are available for purchase at the pep rallies, or you can visit the Jags website or call (904) 633-2000.
