Jason Pierre-Paul released from Jackson Memorial Hospital after fireworks injury

NFL Network reports Giants defensive end no longer at hospital

MIAMI – New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been released from Jackson Memorial Hospital.

According to the NFL Network, Pierre-Paul was discharged.

The Deerfield Beach native injured his hand in a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July.

He had his right index finger amputated.

ESPN's Adam Schefter drew widespread criticism for publishing Pierre-Paul's private medical records from inside Jackson. The hospital is currently investigating.

As for Pierre-Paul's football future, the Giants pulled a $60 million contract offer off the table. He is expected to play this season under a one-year deal.

The two-time Pro Bowl player attended Deerfield Beach High School and the University of South Florida. He was a first-round draft pick of the Giants in 2010.
