Fire breaks out in Brentwood home

No one in the home when fire crews arrived

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Firefighters are working to figure out the cause of a house fire in Brentwood Thursday morning.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched about 8 a.m. to a two-story home on fire at 3810 Evergreen Ave. According to JFRD, when crews arrived, smoke was seen coming out of the home.

No one was in the home when fire crews arrived. It's unclear if the home was occupied when the fire started.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in about 10 minutes, according to JFRD.

They said the fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom.

No injuries were reported.

The owner was renting the home and is talking with firefighters about what may have caused the fire.

The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the cause.
