Joy of Riverside bride-to-be's big day stolen

Thieves stole car, save-a-date invitations

RIVERSIDE, Fla. – The joy of a Riverside bride-to-be's big day was stolen from her Tuesday morning when she woke up to find her car stolen, and in it, the 200 save-a-date invitations waiting to be mailed to friends and family.

Brittany Lanctote said it wasn't her car that she's lost out on the most, but the joy of putting together the wedding she's been dreaming of.

"Sometimes I park in the driveway so the first thing, when I was looking out here and seeing that it wasn't here, I immediately looked in the driveway and I realized that it wasn't there either. And then I started panicking," Lanctote said.

Between Monday night and Tuesday morning someone broke into her home and stole her car keys and stole her 2010 Volkswagen Jetta.

"I could care less about everything else that was in the car you know, it's all replaceable. But the most important part where those save the dates," Lanctote said. "It's really frustrating knowing that I'm going to have to order these all over again and wait another week or so for them to come in, and then re-address all of the envelopes and send them out all over again."

It's a process that took Lanctote days to complete and cost over $400.

"It takes not only a lot of money, but a lot of effort to collect all of the addresses and the postage and put everything together. It was hours of work that just kind of got thrown away," Lanctote said.

On Oct. 9, Lanctote will marry the love of her life but until then, she hopes the person who stole her car hears her message.

"I just ask that they have a heart and maybe see that box sitting in the backseat and maybe take a second and drop them off at the post office for me so that I don't have to go through all of that work and time and money all over again. What are they going to do with a box of save the dates," Lanctote pleaded.

Lanctote has a filed a police report and asked that if anyone sees a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with a Carmax plate in the front to call the police.
