JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A police cruiser responding to a call hit an SUV and then slammed into a pole Tuesday on the Northside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Officer Tommy Herrington collided with a gray SUV in the intersection of Starratt Road and Airport Center Drive.

The impact deployed the cruiser's airbags, and Herrington was ejected out the passenger side door.
He was taken to UF Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
