Police identify man found shot, killed in San Jose

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who died of a gunshot wound Friday night in the San Jose neighborhood was identified Monday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Police were called at 9:20 p.m. on a report of a man who had been shot and was on the side of the road at an apartment complex on Toledo Road, near St. Augustine Road. Paramedics pronounced 29-year-old Alfred Lewis Lance III dead at the scene.

"We have spoken to some people who have heard some gunshots, but right now we do not have any eyewitnesses," JSO homicide detective Michael Paul said. "It appears that he was targeted for some reason. He was a target of some crime tonight. (We) just don’t know what it was at this point."
