Officers said the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responded to the scene after one of the vehicles hit by a bullet started leaking gasoline.

During its investigation, JSO also discovered that a home invasion robbery had occurred at the apartment complex. Officers said the victim reported that a male and female forced their way into her apartment at gunpoint. The victim said the suspects then stole her car. Police said they don't yet know if the shooting and robbery are related.

"We don't have a direct witness to the gunfire at this point in time so that's why I can't say if the two incidents were connected," said Lt. John Gay. "At this point in time I don't know who was firing the shots at who."

Officers said there were no reports of any injuries.

Police said the stolen vehicle was a 2013 black Dodge Avenger with a Missouri tag. At this point, the license plate number is unknown.
