JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A man was stabbed to death while trying to break up a fight between two women early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to Leslie Road on the Westside shortly after midnight.  When they arrived, they found the victim lying in the road with a stab wound to his chest.

Rescue responded and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation revealed two women were involved in a physical altercation, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.  The victim was attempting to break up the fight when he was stabbed, police said.

There were several witnesses and a person of interest being interviewed by detectives.
