Man reported missing on Northside found, arrested
Police say Tyrone R. Adams gave false information to law enforcement officers
A 52-year-old man who was reported missing early Thursday morning was found walking on Dunn Avenue that night, but police say he was arrested after giving conflicting versions about where he'd been for the past day.
Police were dispatched at 2:50 a.m. Thursday to 12450 Biscayne Boulevard in reference a missing adult. According to documents, Tyrone Adam's family called police after they began getting messages saying "wrong place wrong time, say goodbye," that he was going to be killed.
The incident was being investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit, who at the time said that foul play was suspected, but provided no other details.
According to the arrest report, an officer spotted Adams walking on Dunn Avenue just before 9 p.m. Thursday. When told he had been reported missing, he said: "That's me. Two guys kidnapped me on Avenue B."
After police say Adams contradicted himself several times while being interviewed by detectives, he changed his story to say only that he was robbed, then saying he was placed in the truck, then released. The arrest report says Adams eventually admitted that he'd been smoking crack for the last couple of days. At that point, he was arrested and booked into the Duval County jail.
At this time, JSO said they do not believe any other crime occurred.
