JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman was critically injured Thursday in a crosswalk on Main Street at Duval Street in Downtown Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The 50-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, crossed Main Street in front of a car that had a green light and struck the side of the southbound car about 1:45 p.m., police said. Police said charges will not be filed against the driver, a 62-year-old man.

The accident has blocked Main Street between Duval Street and Monroe Street. Police said they hope to have the road reopened before 5 p.m. rush hour traffic, but it typically takes about two hours to process a scene.

Police remind pedestrians that they are required to cross at intersections and with the crossing light.
