JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two teenagers were arrested and face multiple charges in connection with a high-speed police chase Wednesday that ended on Broadway Avenue on the Westside.

Mitchell is charged with grand theft auto, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving, driving without a license and other moving violations. Williams is charged with grand theft auto and resisting an officer.

Police said Wednesday that a gray Honda Accord, which was reported stolen from the St. Nicholas area last month, was spotted on the highway, and when police tried to pull Mitchell and Williams over, they sped off. Police chased the vehicle from Beaver Street for several miles, and Mitchell, who was driving, intentionally rammed an unmarked police vehicle and kept going, police said.

The chase ended on Broadway Avenue near McDuff Avenue after officers' second attempt at a PIT maneuver to stop the Accord was successful. The Accord crashed and landed partially in a culvert (pictured), but Mitchell and Williams fled on foot, police said.

Mitchell broke into a nearby garage apartment and a K-9 officer tracked him down and attacked when he refused to come out, police said. The garage apartment was occupied at the time and Mitchell was later charged with occupied burglary in addition to his other charges.

Williams also ran, refused to stop and yelled obscenities at the officers, police said. Another K-9 officer attacked, stopping her.

Both teens needed stitches and were taken to UF Health for treatment. No officers were injured.

According to the arrest report, a stolen gun was found inside the stolen car, and the stolen car might have been involved in other crimes throughout Jacksonville.Â
