Juried art show returns to San Marco

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The River City played host to an eclectic mix of Jacksonville's most talented artists during the San Marco Art Festival, held Nov. 17 and Nov. 18. The event featured 100 hand-selected leading national and local artists. The festival showcased original handmade works including: glass, photography, painting, mixed media, fiber, jewelry.

The two-day art juried festival transformed the San Marco neighborhood, known for its cultural diversity and historic charm.

"Went to apply and checked out shows in Florida. This was rated well. I'm eager to see what the show is like," said artist Robin Daning. "Cool thing about people here is they're friendly and interested in buying art."

People from across the state traveled to the River City just for this event. For some at the festival wasn't just about art appreciation, it was a teaching opportunity as well.

"This is a wonderful exhibit, beautiful day. I'm glad I have this opportunity here and for children to learn. I teach art. I love to bring children get them to see what's possible for them to make and create and to explore and have it outside bring local artist together," said show-goer Michelle Krueger.
