JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A jury voted 8-4 that Rodney Renard Newberry, 44, be sentenced to death for the shooting death of man outside a nightclub in December 2009.
This same jury convicted Newberry last week on charges of armed robbery and first-degree murder in the death of Terrese Pernell Stevens.

Prosecutors say Newberry and two co-defendants robbed and then shot Stevens numerous times with an AK-47 while he was sitting in his car parked outside a North Pearl Street nightclub.
The final sentencing decision will be made by Judge Adrian Soud.
