Killer, 27, sentenced to 45 years
Jimmie Gardner, 27, was recently sentenced to 45 years in prison, with a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years, for his involvement in the shooting death of Edward Williams III.
Gardner pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in August.
In September 2012, Gardner and a co-defendant shot Williams multiple times.
The victim was found lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex, unresponsive, and was transported to a hospital. Williams later died as a result of his injuries.
