LAKE CITY, Fla. – A Lake City man was arrested after police say he tried to rape a 13-year-old girl.
According to police, 18-year-old Gerome Robinson saw the girl walking down Cherry Lane near his house Sunday. He approached the girl and asked if she wanted to hang out. She replied "no."
Robinson then grabbed hold of her and pushed the girl into his backyard, holding her against her will, police said.
The victim said she told him "no" and "stop" several times.
Robinson forced her up against the house and took his clothes off, police said. He attempted to take her clothes off, but she was able to shove him to the ground and left, police said.
Police said Robinson attempted to follow her but was stopped by his mother.
Robinson told police officers "the devil tried to rape her in my body."
Robinson was arrested and booked into jail with bail set at $55,000.
