Laundromat owner threatened; bomb squad called out

Owner reported finding suspicious device

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad investigated a laundromat in Riverside early Thursday morning after the owner received a threat.

The owner of King Street Laundromat said he got into a dispute with a homeless man on Wednesday.  The man told the owner he had military experience with demolition and would blow up his business.

The owner said he later returned to the laundromat about 11:30 p.m. and found a suspicious device or box.  He alerted police and the bomb squad was called to the scene.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated for several hours and cleared the scene around 3:30 a.m.

The man who reportedly made the threat has not been located.
