JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office lieutenant under investigation for alleged racist Instagram posts has resigned from her post with the Fraternal Order of Police.
Lt. Trudy Callahan remains a watch commander in Jacksonville's downtown police zone. She is still under investigation by the Sheriff Office's internal affairs unit for allegedly posting racist comments about blacks on her Instagram account, which has been taken down.

She is accused of making racist posts about black people, using profanity and calling African-Americans the "N" word.
Sheriff Mike Williams said Friday that the behavior Callahan is accused of on social media is unbecoming of a police lieutenant.
"I can tell you at first blush, it's unprofessional. It's not indicative of what a lieutenant in our agency should be involved in," Williams said. "Beyond that, I can't really comment. I don't want to taint the investigation."
Callahan was elected to the board of directors for the FOP in 2013. Callahan was asked to step down from her FOP post after being questioned about the Instagram posts.
Nearly 50 complaints have also been filed against Callahan since she joined JSO in 1996.
