JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An elderly woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she suffered a medical emergency and crashed her car into a tree Thursday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Officers responded to the crash at West 11th Street and Myrtle Avenue North on the Northside about 2 p.m.

The woman was taken to UF Health Jacksonville. Her age and identity were not immediately released.
West 10th and West 12th streets at Myrtle were closed for more than an hour.
