Elliot Demon Sheffield, 43, faces a 20-year manditory prison sentence after recent conviction

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was sentenced Wednesday afternoon to 20 years in prison for a shooting last September, the State Attorney's Office said. 

Elliot Demon Sheffield, 43, was convicted in August of aggravated assault with a firearm, assault, battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Two people were inside their home last September when Sheffield slashed the tires on their vehicle. When a man went outside to confront Sheffield, he pointed a gun at his face and threatened him. The man went back to his apartment, and Sheffield followed him. The female victim, who was previously in a relationship and has children with Sheffield, went outside to confront him, but he pushed her away and tried to enter the home.

The male victim went inside his home, and was trying to hold the door closed when Sheffield stuck his arm inside and fired a shot, which didn’t hit the man. Sheffield fled the scene after learning 911 was called.
