13-year-old shot riding bicycle on West 15th

JSO investigating another shooting less than a mile away

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Detectives are looking for whoever shot a 13-year-old while he was on his bicycle in Northwest Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon. 

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Hector Rivera said it happened near 2300 West 15th Street around 1:15 p.m.

According to the police report, the boy hit by bullets in the buttocks and right foot while riding in the street near a church. He was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim told police he heard five gunshots while riding from the Kings Ridge Apartments on Flag Street to Johnnie Walker Park on W. 20th Street.  He did not see who shot him or a vehicle.

Early Sunday morning, a man was shot less than a mile away at West 13th Street and Fairfax Street, according to police.

The man was hit in the upper torso and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said at the same time, shots were fired inside an occupied home, but no one inside was hurt.

Detectives were looking at the possibility a grey vehicle may be involved.

They said they didn't know if the two shootings were related.
