16-year-old arrested in gang-related shooting

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Police in Brunswick have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a gang-related shooting last week.

Officers were called to the main parking lot of the McIntyre Court Apartments at 107 McIntyre Court about 10:45 p.m. Oct. 17.

They said the gang-related shooting was initiated from a member of the Folk Nation Criminal Street Gang. Police said the suspect shot multiple rounds at a vehicle that was occupied by four members of the Bloods People Criminal Street Gang. They said at least six rounds were fired at the vehicle, which sustained more than $500 in damage.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Investigators said they identified the teen as the shooter. He is charged as an adult with four counts of aggravated assault with a gun, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and participation in criminal street gang activity.

Police said he is currently on juvenile probation for the felony charge of theft by receiving an automobile.
