COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - Two Lake City residents were arrested Wednesday on methamphetamine charges, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
About 1 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a tag violation.
Deputies said they found items in the car that were consistent with the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine. Deputies said they found lithium batteries, pseudoephedrine and a container of muriatic acid in the car.
Deputies said 31-year-old Keith Wheeldon and 22-year-old Chaylen Ortega had just purchased the pseudoephedrine at a local pharmacy.
Ortega, the driver of the vehicle, had a warrant for her arrest for violation of probation. She and Wheeldon were arrested and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
