2 critical in collision of JTA bus, pickup truck

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two people were critically hurt and two others suffered minor injuries in a crash between a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus, a dump truck and two other vehicles Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened about 3 p.m. on Dunn Avenue by the Florida State College at Jacksonville North Campus.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bus was traveling west on Dunn making a left turn onto North Campus Boulevard, and a pickup truck heading east on Dunn collided with it in the intersection.

The bus was redirected to the south and struck a car stopped at the intersection, troopers said. The car was pushed backward into a vehicle stopped behind it.

The driver of the truck, 56-year-old Dwelly Biggs, and a passenger, 30-year-old Dwelly Biggs Jr., were both taken to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition.

Two people on the bus suffered minor injuries and were taken to UF Health.

Troopers said charges are pending.
