2 dead, 1 critical in Westside shooting

Jacksonville police say unknown gunman is at large

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man and a woman, both 21, are dead and a third victim is in life threatening condition after a shooting early Saturday morning at the Canterbury Gardens apartment complex on the Westside.

Sgt. Michael Paul with Jacksonville Sheriff's office says they got the call just after 3 a.m. that three people were shot at the apartment complex on Lane Avenue.  Emanual Errol Robinson and Latricia Brianna Johnson, both 21, were pronounced dead at the scene and the third victim as transported to UF Health at Jacksonville.

The names of the third victim was not released Saturday.

Police said they have made no arrests, but they are searching the area for suspects.

"At this point it does not look like a murder suicide. It looks like there was some criminal action," Paul said. "We do believe we have a suspect outstanding. Who that suspect is, we do not know."

Paul says that right now, they don't have many clues, but they are working with the State Attorney's Office to get a search warrant for the apartment to continue the investigation.

He says that some neighbors heard gunshots, but nobody saw anything since many of them were asleep at the time the shooting happened.

"We have no real eyewitnesses," he said. "We do have one victim still living at this time, in life-threatening condition but we do hope to be able to speak with her at some time."

Anyone with information about the triple shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.  Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
