JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An unmarked Jacksonville Sheriff's Office car was struck by another car that ran a red light downtown Thursday morning, according to police.
Police said an unmarked Chevrolet Impala carrying two detectives was heading westbound in traffic on Bay Street just before noon and had a green light.

A Toyota Camry traveling northbound on Lee Street ran a red light at the intersection, police said.
The front of the Camry struck the left rear of the Impala. The Impala was redirected and struck large pole.
The detective who was a passenger in the car was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Camry was initially not transported, but later taken to the hospital as a precaution with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witness statements and statements from the driver of the Camry revealed that the Camry ran the red light, police said.
The driver of the Camry and both occupants of the Impala were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Police said the driver of the Camry will be cited for running the red light.
The road was closed and traffic was diverted to southbound Lee Street until about 2 p.m.
