2 kids hurt in hit-and-run at Palm Coast bus stop

PALM COAST, Fla. – A first-grader and a kindergartener were hurt when an SUV pulling a trailer struck them Wednesday morning at a Palm Coast bus stop, FlaglerLive.com reported.

The two children were waiting on a bus at Frontier Drive and Fountain Gate Lane as the two boys were waiting for their school bus to Old Kings Elementary.

"A vehicle with a trailer turned the corner there, and knocked the two kids over," Mike Judd, Flagler County schools' senior director of facilities, who oversees the transportation department, told FlaglerLive.

One of the students was treated and released to his parents at the scene, Judd said. The other was transported by ground to Florida Hospital Flagler with non-serious injuries.

The SUV kept going after the collision, but was stopped a short distance away.  According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, the driver said he was unaware of what had happened at the bus stop.

The driver's name and charges against him were not immediately released.
