2 men shot in Westside neighborhood

Police: Men know each other; shootings related

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating a shooting that injured two men on the Westside Thursday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, someone forcibly entered a home along Lenox Avenue near Kingsbury Street about 4 a.m.

Investigators are still trying to verify exactly what happened, but said an argument ensued in the driveway of the home between men that ended in gunfire. They are not sure how many men were involved at this time.

Police were then notified that shots were fired in the area. When they responded to the home, they found a man at the home with a gunshot wound.

Moments later, another man was found a block away on Lenox Avenue at Kinsgsbury Street, with a gunshot wound, according to police.

Police said one man was shot in the leg, the other man was shot in the chest. Both men were transported to separate hospitals and neither are suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the men know each other and both men are cooperating with police at each of the hospitals.

Police roped off a large area of Lenox Avenue near Kingsbury Street to preserve evidence from the two crime scenes.

Police don't have any information on possible suspects or vehicle information at this time. They are canvasing the neighborhood to try to find any information on what occurred Thursday morning.
