CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. - Four people were arrested Tuesday in Camden County in connection with a robbery in Titusville, Fla.
Investigators from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office contacted the Camden County Sheriff's Office about 7:30 p.m. and asked that deputies be on the lookout for a vehicle used in an armed robbery in Titusville.
Investigators believed the silver Ford Fusion would be driven by Yubran Alverez-Vazquez, 20, of Bluffton, S.C., who had active warrants out of Brevard County for armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and grand theft. Florida investigators had been tracking the vehicle and believed it was near the Georgia state line.
Investigators staged at mile marker nine on Interstate 95 in Camden County to look for the vehicle, and they said it passed their position at about 8:15 p.m.
They stopped the vehicle, which was driven by Jaromy Floriano, 20, of Bluffton, S.C. Deputies said they learned that the vehicle driven by Floriano was owned by Alverez-Vazquez and that she was following another vehicle, a white SUV.
Floriano disavowed any knowledge of Alverez-Vazquez's whereabouts, deputies said. In the vehicle driven by Floriano, the deputies found a loaded 12 gauge shotgun by the driver's seat hidden under a towel, a small amount of marijuana and Floriano's infant, investigators said.
Brevard County investigators arrived at the traffic stop and confirmed that Floriano was a suspect in the armed robbery. She was taken into custody and her child was turned over to child care workers.
At approximately 9:10 p.m., deputies were notified of suspicious activity at the Sunshine Travel Plaza at Exit 14 in Woodbine. Investigators there stopped a white Dodge Durango. They said the Durango, which was bearing the license plate of a black Audi passenger car, was driven by Brittany Shuman, 25, of Savannah, and the passenger was Matthew Vazquez, 22, of Savannah.
Shuman and Vazquez told deputies that the man they were looking for (Alverez-Vazquez) was headed northbound on I-95 driving a gold Lexus sedan. In the Durango driven by Shuman, investigators said they found a number of items believed to have been stolen in the armed robbery and a small amount of marijuana. A juvenile in the vehicle, believed to be Shuman's child, was turned over to a family member.
At 9:20 p.m. the gold Lexus was stopped by deputies at the Glynn-Camden county line. Investigators said Alverez-Vazquez was driving the vehicle and was taken into custody. They said the Lexus was stolen in Orange County, Florida.
All four suspects are in custody at the Camden County jail. Shuman is charged with possession of drug-related objects. Floriano is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon. Vazquez is charged with bringing stolen property into the state and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Alverez-Vazquez is charged with being a fugitive from justice and theft by bringing stolen property into the state.
All the suspects face additional charges.
