'Active shooter' drill to be held at Orange Park Mall

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Public safety agencies in Clay County will conduct an "active shooter" training exercise at the Orange Park Mall on Wednesday.

The drill will involve a combination of staff from the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Clay Fire Rescue, Clay County Division of Emergency Management, Orange Park Mall staff and security employees, military volunteers and more.

The exercise will begin after the mall is closed and will not obstruct the operation of the movie theatre area. Parts of the training exercise will be inside the mall, while other parts will take place outside in various parking lots.

Volunteers and others involved will be on site as early as 7 p.m. to prepare, and the drill will start at 10 p.m. and should wrap up by 1:30 a.m. May 2.
