DINSMORE, Fla. – Animal Control says they found around 50 dogs on rural land in Dinsmore.
The dogs are believed to have been living there for years after they were dumped.
Charlie Small told Channel 4 he has been spending around $150 a week to feed the animals.
"Most of the people just drive by, don't pay no attention," said Small. "And I can't stand to see an animal starve."
Animal Control came to the land the dogs call home and trapped about 30 of them.
Officials said they are trying to find out what to do with the adult dogs, which are feral.
More than a dozen puppies that have been taken to the Jacksonville Humane Society for possible adoption.
"Originally had 15. Three of them immediately needed to go into a home for personal care, they were in need of bottle feeding and more hands on care," said Denise Deisler, executive director of the Jacksonville Humane Society.
Deisler told Channel 4 adopting the pups out won't be easy.
"These are clearly puppies who were born, and have had very little, if any, attention and interaction with people. They were born outside, they've been living outside, they've been eating outside," she said.
According to Deisler, the parentage is unknown and the puppies are all different colors.
