Armed crack dealer sentenced to 8 years in prison

Joe Terry, 38, pleaded guilty to charges Feb. 26

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was sentenced Monday to eight years in federal prison for distributing cocaine base and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Joe Terry, 38, of Jacksonville, pleaded guilty to the charges on Feb 26.

Court documents revealed that a confidential informant was used by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives agents to make an undercover purchase from crack cocaine from Terry. During the transaction Terry displayed a Glock firearm.

During the execution of a search warrant, ATF agents recovered a Glock .40-caliber pistol from Terry's home. He was arrested at that time, while on parole from Georgia for a felony drug offense.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the ATF.
