Bicyclist killed in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash that killed a St. Augustine bicyclist on Friday afternoon.

Deputies say the crash occurred about 3 p.m. on West King Street, which was closed from Herbert to Park streets while rescue personnel and investigators work at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation,  Clifford Wayne Johnson, 64, was riding his bike west on the south shoulder of King when he rode his bike into the path of an east bound vehicle driven by Eric Isaac, 23, of St. Augustine.

Johnson died at the scene.

Deputies said charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
