Big League Dreams planning new stadium in Clay County

Clay County Commissioners to vote on proposed ball park

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – The chance for your kids to play in Yankee Stadium or Wrigley Field could soon be a reality in Clay County. A massive project is planned to bring Big League Dreams to north Middleburg.

The company is called Big League Dreams, which builds smaller scale replicas of major league ballparks in cities around the country that are used primarily for kids baseball teams.

These complexes are so huge, they bring in thousands of people each year from out of the area.

"Every city has a ballpark. They're unique because they're replica fields of historic fields, like Wrigley or Fenway," said Tony Boselli.

The former Jaguar supports building the new park and has been contracted by Big League Dreams to promote this project in Clay County.

Boselli met with county leaders and said the project is close to becoming a reality.

"There's parks everywhere, whether they play youth baseball, but these are replica fields, so the kids who love baseball and turn on TV and see Wrigley, Fenway, where Red Sox play and several others, they'll be able to experience on a smaller scale, replica fields, so it's very unique," said Boselli.

Residents in Clay County has mixed reactions to the planned park. There has been some support on the county commission, but the most vocal opposition has come from Clay County Commissioner Ronnie Robinson, who was not available for comment Friday night.

Robinson has said that he doesn't feel the park is a good way to spend tax dollars.

The park still requires a full vote of the Board of Commissioners in Clay County.
