JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for certain JEA customers in St. Johns County to boil water used for drinking and food preparation or to use bottled water for those purposes.
The boil water advisory affects customers within the following boundaries: 2371 South Ponte Vedra Blvd. south through the intersection of South Beach Drive bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west.
The advisory is issued due to reduced water pressure and/or outages in the affected area occurring as a result of a broken water distribution line, which was struck by a private landscape contractor during the process of installing a large tree.
Residents should bring water to a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute prior to using for drinking, food preparation or cooking.
It is recommended that residents flush water lines for three minutes after water returns to remove any air and possible sediments from the lines.
The advisory will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological results have been obtained. Affected customers will be notified when these criteria are met and the precautionary advisory is lifted.
For more information regarding this advisory, call JEA customer service at 904-665-6000.
