City solicits suggested elections office site to private businesses

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The fight over a new Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office location is still underway.

The city is trying to find out if private businesses would be interested in developing downtown city property that some say would be a perfect site for a new elections office.

It's property in the LaVilla area off Beaver Street. The city is sending out requests to see if there could be any other use for that site.

Right now the city owns the property, which contains one building that used to be a restaurant.

The area has been the suggested site to build a new elections office. The mayor's office is pushing to reuse other existing buildings in Jacksonville.
