Clay County Animal Care and Control asks for adoptions

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Workers at Clay County Animal Care and Control want residents to add a loving pet to their home because they've been taking in an average of 50-100 animals a week recently.

Employees said they're trying to find out why so many families in the area are abandoning their pets after owning them for years.

Workers at the shelter said the current situation is becoming critical and if the animals are not adopted soon, they will have to be euthanized. Workers said they want to find alternatives to euthanizing, but they're finding it tough when they take in nearly 4,000 animals a year.

Their intake levels are higher usually during the warmer months.
