Company moving, expanding into St. Johns County

2G Cenergy to grow from 11 to 125 employees

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – For the last two years, German-based company 2G Cenergy has had an office in Orange Park with 11 employees.

In a few months, it will begin expanding to 125 employees and will move to a factory off State Road 16 in St. Johns County.

Michael Turwitt, president and CEO of 2G Cenergy, said people are already knocking on the company's door looking for a job.

"We've received the first applications for jobs this morning," Turwitt said. "As soon as it hit the news, we got emails and phone calls."

The company produces energy using alternative fuels and bio gasses. It's looking for a variety of skilled workers, including welders, electricians and other mechanically skilled workers, to fill the 60,000-square-foot plant. There are administrative positions to fill, too, including jobs in sales and marketing.

Turwitt said the average job will pay around $50,000.

"We do know that St. Augustine has a very good work base of employees we can draw upon," he said.

2G is moving into a plant now occupied by Bradco construction supplies. The owner of Bradco said the company is moving into a smaller location and is not laying anyone off. So Turwitt said 2G's expansion is nothing but good news for northeast Florida.

2G Cenergy said it's going to begin the hiring process in about two months. When it does, it said it will post the information about the type of people it's looking for on its website, 2G-Cenergy.com.
